Green Christmas

LYRICS by Joanna Forbes L’Estrange

What if Christmas could be green instead of white?
There’d be far more future Christmasses in sight;
What use are dreams of snow or kisses under mistletoe
While melting icecaps leave our polar bears nowhere to go?

Don’t let Christmas bring you down or make you blue
Cos there’s only one important thing to do:
That’s to love our world and be the eco-friendliest you’ve been;
Make your Christmas this year be green.

What if Christmas could be green instead of white?
It’s a dream with each and every card I write:
What use are dreams of picture-perfect sledging in the snow
If we ignore the warnings and destroy the world we know?

So this year I’m going to dream a different dream
Of a Christmas such as we have rarely seen,
Where we look back to the past when things were made and built to last,
And may all your Christmasses be eco-Christmasses
And may all your Christmasses be green.
Be green.
