How do you keep the music playing? Legrand arr. L'Estrange

The Self-Isolation Choir‘s June/July 2021 project is to give a virtual performance of Alexander L’Estrange‘s celebrated arrangement of Michel Legrand’s song ‘How do you keep the music playing?’. The course will be directed by Joanna Forbes L’Estrange for whom the arrangement was written (for her final concert with The Swingles back in 2004.) It has since been recorded by L’Estranges in the Night,The Nonsuch Singers (both featuring Joanna as soloist) and by the choir of Trinity College, Cambridge, directed by Stephen Layton. The performance will feature mezzo-soprano Helen Charlston as the soloist against a luscious backdrop of seven-part a cappella harmony, consummately arranged by Alexander L’Estrange.

This will be a wonderful opportunity for thousands of singers from all over the world to unite in song. Never has the lyric “How do you keep the music playing?” been more relevant than for our times.
